JUMPING BRANCH -- Opal Deeds Pack, 82, of Broomstraw Road, died 11:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, in a Beckley care center following a long illness. Born Oct. 30, 1915, in Braxton County, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Eursla Friend Eagle. Mrs. Pack was a member of the Nimitz Missionary Baptist Church, former owner and operator of the Beauty Bar on Temple St., Hinton, and was a lifelong resident of Summers County. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Marvin Deeds; a son, Thomas Kenton Deeds; a brother, Ernie Eagle; two sisters, Blanche Case and Faye Hill; two stepson, DeRussie Deeds and Kyle Deeds; and a stepgrandson, Mark Deeds. Survivors include her husband, Charles L. Pack at home; a son, Gary Deeds and his wife, Janice, of Jumping Branch; three grandchildren, Susann and Wellington Deeds of Jumping Branch, and Vincent Deeds of Frankford; two stepdaughters, Wanda Alred of Edgemoor, S.C.; 15 stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ida Davis of Concord, N.C., Ruby Cox of Kernersville, N.C., and Ruth Rogers of Waynesboro, Va. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel. Burial will follow in the Deeds Family Cemetery, Jumping Branch. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral parlors.
