COLUMBUS, Ohio - William J. Phillips, 63, formerly of Glen Fork, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Mount Carmel West. Born Sept. 3, 1937, at Glen Fork, he was the son of the late John George and Virginia Rutherford Phillips. Mr. Phillips retired from International Harvester after working for 37 years. He was a member of the UAW and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an avid fisherman and loved boating. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father and mother-in-law, Bud and Corbia Pendry. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Gaynelle Pendry Phillips; a son, William J. Phillips II and his wife, Diane; a daughter, Suzanne E. Holzhauser and her husband, Christ; six granddaughters, Renee, Sara, Kathy, Rebecca, Jessica, and Kristen; a great-grandson, Christopher; a brother, Robert D. Phillips and his wife, Judy; and three aunts and two uncles. Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Clay Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Friends may call one hour before service Friday at the funeral home.
