OAK HILL - Edward E. "Dick" Roberts, 78, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at his home following a long illness. Born April 3, 1921, at Campbells Creek, he was the son of the late Cecil Roberts and Ethel Laurey Roberts. Mr. Roberts was a retired coal mine foreman with Sement-Solvey, a member of UMWA Local 713 and a member of the Church of God, Smithers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca J. Roberts; a daughter, Cathy Faye Carroll; and a sister, Pauline Webb. Survivors include three children, Joe Roberts, Andy Roberts and Connie Alexander, all of Oak Hill; a granddaughter whom he raised, Pam Drennen of Charleston; a sister, Imogene Farmer of Oak Hill; two brothers, Robert Roberts of Handley and Joe Roberts of Webb City, Mo.; a half brother, Doug Roberts of Charleston; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at High Lawn Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Bernie Jennigan officiating. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill.
