CLEAR FORK - Beulah Mae Short, 78, went to her heavenly home Monday, March 12, 2001, following a brief battle with cancer. Born Oct. 25, 1922, in Davy, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Dollie Bradbury Blankenship. Mrs. Short was a homemaker and a member of Advent Christian Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Dale Short; a daughter, Doris Ann Justus; five brothers, Charles Blan-kenship, Johnnie Blankenship, Tom Pete Blankenship, Jack Blankenship and Roy Blankenship; and four sisters, Nora Shannon, Adda Short, Margaret Blankenship and Grace Blankenship. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Jimmie Short; two sons, Danny Short and his wife, Barbara, and Gary Short and his wife, Helen, all of Clear Fork; three daughters, Avis Meijer and her husband, Hans, of Woodbine, Md., Gail Smith of Arlington, Va., and Terry Vanover of Clear Fork; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Advent Christian Church, Clear Fork, with the Revs. Eddie B. Aliff Jr. and Orville Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Short Cemetery, Elk Lick. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Evans Memorial Chapel, Oceana. Pallbearers will be Danny Short Jr., Tommy Simpson, James Miller, Sean Worley, Clifford Snedden and Frank Whitten.
