HINTON - Elvie Myrtle Smith, 89, went to be with the Lord, Thursday at 9:20 a.m. after a long illness. Born May 25, 1912, at Ramp, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Nannie Catherine Harrah Martin. Mrs. Smith had lived all her life in Summers County, was a homemaker and attended the Hinton Gospel Tabernacle. She was preceded in death by a son, Johnnie Adkins; a grandson, Randall Hicks; and two brothers, Leslie and Jonnie Martin. Survivors include three daughters, Ethel Ward of Chestnut Mountain, Sarah Gill and husband, Daniel, of Hinton and Charlotte Yoney and husband, Danney, of Scarbro; a son, Carlos Adkins of Sandstone; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Sarah Dortha Grimmett of Hilldale, Leatha Bowles of Hix, Charlene Adkins of Tug Creek Road, Hinton, and Edith Wil-liams of Hix; and a brother, Charles Martin of Lorain, Ohio. Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, with Pastors Eddie Johnson, Lawrence Bennett and Carlos Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Adkins Family Cemetery near Sandstone. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral parlors.
