NEWARK, N.J. - Barbara A. Workman Smith, 52, formerly of the Pine Knob area of Naoma, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, in a Newark hospital after suffering a heart attack. Born Jan. 15, 1947, at Drews Creek, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Bertha Morris Workman. Mrs. Smith was employed as an addiction counselor at PACE Inc., Wilmington, Del. She graduated from Marsh Fork High School and West Virginia Tech and did her post-graduate work in counseling. Survivors include her husband, Al Smith; a son, Bryce J. Richard and his wife, Margery, of Dagsboro, Del.; three stepdaughters, Karen Smith, Diane Smith and Nancy Savery, all of Delaware; two stepsons, James and Thomas Smith, both of Delaware; two brothers, Walter L. Workman and his wife, Patty, of Charleston and William R. Workman and his wife, Amy, of Cumberland, Md.; two grandchildren, Preston Bryce and Sierra Lynn Richard; 14 stepgrandchildren; a godchild, Krista Marie Schulte; a niece; and three nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Delbert Freewill Baptist Church, Pine Knob, with the Rev. Danny Gilfilen officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Rock Creek.
