FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Lottie Edna Spangler, 93, formerly of Beckley, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, in a Florida hospital following a long illness. Born July 7, 1908, in Sprague, she was the daughter of the late Obert U. and Martha Campbell Smith. Mrs. Spangler was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Ross Spangler; a son, Basil Ray Spangler; three infant children; three brothers, Zina, Stacey and Charles Smith; and two sisters, Ethel Hammick and Hester Bloxton. Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Godbey and her husband, Jack, of Fort Lauderdale, with whom she made her home the past 17 years, and Evelyn Howlett of Beckley; two sons, Bernard Spangler and his wife, Ellen, of Beckley and Robert Spangler and his wife, Cora, of Fort Lauderdale; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Chapel service and private viewing will be conducted for family and close friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Beckley. Pallbearers will be Robert Spangler, Gerald Spangler, Jay Peterson, Charles Sensabaugh, William Howlett and Danny Lusk. Arrangements by Melton Mortuary, Beckley.
