Violet Elizabeth Maynor Stover, 73, of South Kanawha Street, Beckley, formerly of Craigsville, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born May 13, 1926, at Clear Creek, she was the daughter of the late Vince R. and Martha A. England Maynor. Mrs. Stover worked for eight years at Cadillac Division of General Motors in Detroit and she retired from the Lucas County Children's Home in Maumee, Ohio. She was a member of the Beckley Church of God and her favorite pastime was playing the guitar and singing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Porter Stover, on Aug. 21, 1990; three brothers, Garnett, Ofus and Louie Maynor; and two sisters, Opal Griffith and Ruby Wisnewski. Survivors include a brother, Howard V. Maynor and his wife, Donna, of Clear Creek; two sisters, Hazel Lilly and her husband, John Clint, of Clear Creek and Easter M. Hodge of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Ewing Creek Church with the Rev. Loretta Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Ewing Creek Community Cemetery. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Melton Mortuary, Beckley, and one hour before the services Saturday at the church. Pallbearers will be Roger Maynor, Neamon Maynor, Keith Cottle, David Wisnewski, Derek Gilkerson and Joseph Maynor. Arrangements by Melton Mortuary, Beckley.
