Benjamin Edgar Taylor, 90, of Clear Creek, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born May 15,1911, at Clear Creek, he was the son of the late John R. and Melissa Williams Taylor. Mr. Taylor wasa coal miner, a member of UMWA District 17 and was of the Protestant faith. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas Taylor; three brothers; three sisters; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Ella M. Lilly Taylor; five sons, David Taylor and his wife, Sandra, Mittchel Taylor and his wife, Joan, Thomas B. Taylor and his wife, Beverly, Jerry Taylor and his wife, Sherry, and Ernie Taylor, all of Clear Creek; seven daughters, Cledith Workman and Margaret Loveday, both of Maple Fork, Nonearl Stover of Sandstone, Katie McGinnis and her husband, Roger, Faith Price and her husband, Herman, and Betty McGinnis and her husband, Ronald, all of Sandlick, and Glida Williams and her husband, Jerry, of ClearCreek; 45 grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Service will be2 p.m. Friday at Workmans Creek Methodist Church with the Revs. Jerry Lawrence and Sandra Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor Family Cemetery, Clear Creek.
