Cleo A. Thompson

Cleo Alberta Thompson, 90, of Coal City, went to be with her heavenly Father and family on Tuesday, July 24, 2001. Born Nov. 1, 1910, at Camp Creek, she was the daughter of the late Fleet and Hettie Justice Meadows. Mrs. Thompson was a retired secretary for the UMWA local office and a member of Coal City Community Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie E. Thompson; three brothers, George, John and Scott Meadows; and three sisters, Dallas Hatcher, Nancy Ellison and Annie Meadows. Survivors include her son, Marshall Thompson of Salem, Ore.; her two daughters, Barbara Thomas of Oak Hill and Patricia Kettlewell of Yuma, Ariz.; her brother, Russell Meadows of Princeton; nine grandchildren, David Thomas of Kingsport, Tenn., Dale Thomas of Lincolnton, N.C., Donald Thomas of Columbia, S.C., Debra Lanna of Beckley, Tony Gonzalez of Virginia Beach, Va., Brian Gonzalez of Germany, Kimberly Fox of Virginia Beach, Sean Thompson of Greensboro, N.C., and Van Covington of Portland, Ore.; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Revs. Jack Tankersley and Lewis Higginbotham officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
