SUN HILL James H. Toler, 75, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, in a Williamson hospital following a long illness. Born June 14, 1924, at Sun Hill, he was the son of the late Golden C. Toler and Rosa Toler. Mr. Toler was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County and of the Protestant faith. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during World War II and the Korean War. He was a life member of DAV Chapter 56, Oceana, and VFW Post 8365, Oceana. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Toler, in 1991; two sons, Jackie and Curtis; a daughter, Maxine; three brothers, Azil, Ralph and Norvell Toler; and two sisters, Gladys Toler and Mabel Belcher. Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia Cline and her husband, Franklin, of East Lynn; a sister, Donna Jean Morgan and her husband, Roscoe, of Sun Hill; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Evans Memorial Chapel, Oceana, with the Rev. Hanibal Blankenship Jr. and Chaplain Jerry Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in G.C. Toler Memorial Cemetery, Sun Hill. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Evans Memorial Chapel, Oceana.
