Cecil David Vandall, 77, of Meadow Bridge died at home Tuesday, July 2. Born September 25, 1923 at Elton, he was the son of the late William and Cynthia Gwinn Vandall. He was a disabled coal miner, a member of the United Mine Workers, District 29, and a member of Lane Church of Christ. Mr. Vandall was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Harrah, a sister, Sylvia, and two brothers, Grady and Calvin. Survivors include his wife, Winnie Gwinn Vandall; sons, David "Harpo" and Patty Vandall of Grassy Meadows, Dale and Glenda Vandall of Meadow Bridge; daughters, Sandra Gwinn and Roger of Grassy Meadows, Kathy Gill and Tommy of Great Mills, Md.; brother, Vernon of Elton; sister Pauline Williams of Meadow Bridge; grandsons, Kevin Gwinn, Wayne Vandall; grandaughters, April Planker, Donna Kirk, Lee Anna Gwinn, Andrea Gwinn, Brittany Gill, Ashley Gill, Shannon Harrah; step-granddaughter, Jody Whitt; step-grandson, J.E. Gwinn; six great-grandaughters and three great-grandsons. Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Smathers Funeral Chapel with Evangelist Dean Manning and Elzie Gwinn officiating. Burial will follow in the Wickline Cemetery, Meadow Bridge. The services will conclude with the releasing of white doves. Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Sifers, Franklin Vandall, James Olen Wickline, Lovell Williams, Kanso Harris and Wayne Cox. Smathers Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
