MULLENS - Sadie Elizabeth Walker, 90, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, in a Beckley hospital. Born July 4, 1909, in Harriman, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Clay Johnson and Pearl Ann Hensley Johnson. Mrs. Walker had been a resident of Mullens since 1939. She was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Maranatha Youth Camp, Dublin, Va., having served during church and summer camp for 30 years. She was employed by the Wyoming County Board of Education as a cook for Mullens Grade School with 30 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Walker; a sister, Ruth Nickles; and a brother, Ted Johnson. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Thomas and her husband, Wallace Edward, of Mullens; a brother, Paul Johnson and his wife, Lois, of Ohio; a sister-in-law, Bea Johnson of Clay City, Ky.; two grandchildren, Wallace Delene Thomas and his wife, Angela Carol, and Michael Thomas; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Delene Thomas and Noah Edward Thomas. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Pentecostal Holiness Church, Mullens, with the Revs. Lewis Arnold and Ray Humphries officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
