Frank P. Walls


CYCLONE - Frank P. Walls, 89, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, following a long illness. Born Sept. 9, 1911, at Cyclone, he was the son of the late Sam and Ida Cook Walls. Mr. Walls was a member of Campus Church of God and a retired coal miner, working 36 years for Eastern Associated Coal's Kopperston No. 2 Mine as a shuttle car operator. He was a member of Local Union No. 7604 and was a lifetime resident of Wyoming County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey P. Walls, on Feb. 13, 1986; and four brothers, Joe, Bill, Norman and Guy Walls. Survivors include three sons, Larry Walls and his wife, Wanda, of Cyclone, Marvin Walls and his wife, Judy, of Craigsville and Glenn Walls and his wife, Louise, of Holly Ridge, N.C.; two daughters, Doris Casto and her husband, Bruce, of Columbus, Ohio, and Joy Kikta of Cyclone; two sisters, Elsie Horn of Charleston and Elziabeth Perry of Cyclone; and nine grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Campus Church of God with Pastor Chelsey Noel officiating. Burial will follow in Cook Cemetery, Cyclone. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church and one hour before service Thursday. Grandchildren and close relatives will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Evans Funeral Home, Oceana.
