BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Edna Mae Wardrup Warden, 89, formerly of Beckley, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, in a Pompano Beach, Fla., hospital following a short illness. Born Dec. 19, 1909, in Asheville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Morgan David and Ellen Garrett Wardrup. Mrs. Warden spent her chilhood at Calloway Heights and was a resident of Sprague Hill for many years, before moving to Florida in 1989. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Courthouse Square, Beckley. She was the last survivor of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by three sons, Ronald, Carl Edward, and Earl Warden Jr. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Earl Warden Sr.; two sons, Don Ward and his wife, Barbara, of Boca Raton, and Richard Warden of Philadelphia, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Beckley, with the Rev. James Lowe officiating. Burial will follow. Friends may call 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Melton Mortuary, Beckley.
