Robert Arvin Webb, 67, of Glen Daniel, formerly of Naoma, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness. Born Sept. 13, 1931, at Naoma, he was the only child of the late Delbert D. and Julia Ann Hendrix Webb. Mr. Webb retired from Peabody Coal Co. with 40 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a member of Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent and sang in the choir. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Hazel Mae Hendrix Webb; a daughter, Linda Gail and her husband, the Rev. Robert Carter, of Fairdale; two grandsons, Nathan and Timmy Carter of Fairdale; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Carter and Daniel Legg officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
