Mary M. Williams

NORTH CAROLINA - Mary Magdeline Stiltner Williams, 80, formerly of Helen, died Saturday, July 14, 2001, at Frye Regional Medical Center, in Hickory, N.C., following a long illness. Born May 5, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Paris Stiltner and Elizabeth Conley Stiltner. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker, poet, and writer. She was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Friendship Association in Welch. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting, and crafts, along with flower gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Williams. Survivors include two sons, Jerry Williams of Hudson, N.C., and James Williams of Westerville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jerri Williams, Bill Williams, Deborah Williams, and Stephen Williams; seven sisters, Hazel Belcher, Ann Jackson, Ruby Dameron, June Belcher, Mahalia Matney, Kathleen Helton, and Stella Belcher; a brother, Raymond Stiltner; and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Corey, and Courtney Williams. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Brice Phillips and Cecil Belcher officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Wednesday, July 18, 2001
