MRS. R. M. BROWN (Ellen Jane Brown)

Well Known Resident of the First Ward Dead

Mrs. Robert M. Brown died at her home early Tuesday morning of heart failure. The lady had been ill for some weeks previous, but her condition had improved to such an extent that she was able to go about the house. Heart trouble was the immediate cause of her death which came as a severe shock to her devoted family and their many friends who mourn her demise.

Mrs. Brown was about fifty-nine years old, and a truly Christian woman, devoted to her husband and children, kind to her neighbors and a faithful member of the M. E. church. She was a native of Barbour county, but has resided here ever since her marriage to Mr. Brown. Besides her husband, who is one of the best known employes of the B. & O. here, seven children mourn her death. They are W. B. Brown, of McMechen, Ralph C. Brown, who is attending the Wesleyan College at Buckhannon and preparing for the ministry, O. D. and W. T. Brown, Misses Maud and Jessie at home and Mrs. E. T. Frye also residing in Grafton.

The funeral was held at the residence on West Railroad street this afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. C. A. Snider of the West Main Street M. E. Church, who was her pastor, and a large number of friends were in attendance in addition to a large circle of relatives of the family. After the services, the remains were taken to the Brown Church on Wickwire, where they were laid to rest in the church cemetery by undertaker McCabe.
