MORRIS posted by Lawrence Brown on Thursday, September 24, 1998

Does Taylor Co. have a book of cemetery listings? I need to find the burial site of a John MORRIS , born Monongalia Co., and died about 1855 or thereabouts, and is possibly buried in Steele Cemetery, Taylor Co. Old written note from about 1950 reflects collection of $8.00 obtained from local Taylor Co citizens collected to bury John Morris. Can cemetery listings be obtained on Internet? If so what is web site? With sincere appreciation.

FERGUSON, VANDERGRIFT posted by Sharon Sprouse Bramhall on Sunday, October 18, 1998

Searching for information about Benjamin FERGUSON and Harriet VANDERGRIFT (born 1829) who married Oct 15, 1850 Marion Co WV. In the Dutch tradition, Harriet kept her maiden name & as a result, part of the family goes by Ferguson and the other by Vandergrift. Our "Vandergrift" side only discovered the "Ferguson" side when we researched this. Since Harriet was born in 1829, Benjamin may have been in the same age group and could have served in the Civil War, though nothing has been found to date.
ANDERSON posted by Sharon Sprouse Bramhall on Sunday, October 18, 1998

Henry ANDERSON , born c 1811 Maryland, lived in Pennsylvania, at the least between 1832-1837 and came to Monongalia (Marion) Co, (West) Virginia by 1839, and possibly lived in Taylor County. He had at least 19 children - 9 children by his first wife, "Ann" (James, Nancy C., John J., Wiliam S., Enos M., Mary A., Elizabeth E., Newton B., John Festus) and 10 children by his 2nd wife, Hannah Minear (Rachel Helen/Daniel Lenna (twins), Henry Fillmore, Anabell, Charles, George Franklin, Nora J., Sarah J., Malinda M., Levi M.). At one point in time, Henry and Hannah lived near Taylor Co. line in Powell and at least one son (Festus) was a Taylor County resident. Family legend names Henry's first wife as Anna Elizabeth (Hannon or Annon or Hanover), and says he was buried on Coon's Run, but no grave site has been found to date. According to 1850 Marion Co. census, Ann was born in PA. In 1842, Henry and Ann sold land along Mon River and on Holiback's Run.
