On the webpage entitled "The Mother of Mother's Day," Anne Marie Reeves
Jarvis of Grafton started Mother's Day Clubs with the help of her older
brother Dr. James Edmund REEVES, either of Philippi or Pruntytown.
Anne Marie was born in 1832; Dr. James Edmund Reeves was born in 1829.
The father of both was Rev. Josiah Washington REEVES, a Methodist
Minister who in 1843 had been transferred from Culpeper County, VA, to
Barbour County, WV. Josiah's wife was born Nancy Kemper, birthplace unknown.
Josiah's birthplace unknown. Josiah's father was Thomas Washington REEVES,
but I have no other information about him. My own father's name was Dr.
James Edmund Reeves, born Marietta Georgia in 1907, died 1994. His father
was also a doctor, Dr. James Monroe REEVES, c.1879-1937, and apparently
named my dad after the family's most distinguished physician. I need to
find details on marriage, descendants, career, and residential moves of
the earlier James Edmund Reeves, b. 1829. He apparently practiced medicine
in Taylor and Barbour Counties for many decades in the mid-19th century.
