Grant Henson, born 24 June 1897 in Boyd County, KY, was killed in a slate fall in a mine of the Red Jacket Coal Company, Mingo County, WV, on 20 October 1954. He had worked in the mines from the age of 10, first as his father's helper, later rising to become a foreman. He left a wife, seven children, and many descendants.
