Deward Allan Scott

Deward Allan Scott, 58, of 122 Peabody Circle, Montcoal, died Monday, April 5, 2010, in a mining accident at Performance Coal Company.
Mr. Scott was born October 17, 1951, in Edwight and was the son of the late Quillie and Mary Sumner Scott.
He was an employee of Performance Coal Company, Montcoal, and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Scott was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Edward; and a brother, James.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife, Crissie Lynn Scott of Montcoal; a daughter, Jennifer Ann Scott and her companion, Benny Williams, of Beckley; a son, Daniel Allan (Leann) Scott of Beckley; and four brothers, Dallas (Cathy) Scott of Dry Creek, George (Betty) Scott of Clear Creek, Danny (Daisy) Scott of Surveyor and Melvin Gregory Scott of Clear Creek. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kayla, Nicki, Jacob, Nicholas, Christopher, James and Matthew, and one grandchild on the way.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, April 9, in the Armstrong Funeral Home Chapel, Whitesville, with the Rev. Donnie Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Workmans Creek Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
