Dillard Earl ‘Dewey’ Persinger
Dillard Earl “Dewey” Persinger, 32, of Crab Orchard, passed away Monday, April 5, 2010, with friends and co-workers in the Montcoal Mine explosion.
Born October 16, 1977, in Beckley, he was the son of Delmas and Ada Bolen Persinger of Glenview Road in Crab Orchard, whom he respected and loved his whole life. Dewey was a lifelong resident of Crab Orchard where he attended Independence High School. Dewey worked at Massey Energy for two years, where he was proud to be a coal miner. Dewey will always be remembered as being dedicated to his family and friends. He loved spending time with his wife Heidi and his two sons, James, age two, and Devin, age eight. In his spare time Dewey loved being with his family and listening to country music. In Dewey’s book, family was the most important priority in his life.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James Dillard and Virginia Marie Perdue Bolen.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Heidi Bragg Persinger; two sons, James and Devin, of Crab Orchard; his parents, Delmas and Ada Bolen Persinger of Crab Orchard; one brother, Dale Persinger and wife Debra of Reidsville, W.Va.; two sisters, Janet Reed and husband Danny and Rita Stover and husband Charlie of Crab Orchard; father and mother-in-law, Glen and Rita Bragg of Beckley; sisters-in-law, Jessica McKinney of Beckley and Angela Helton of South Carolina; also many nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with Pastor Duane Pease officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may gather with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: J.R. Sturgil, Benny Walker, Robbie Sturgil, Rodney Green, Jason Green, Larry Green, Don Wilson, and Hansel Parsons III.
