Nicolas McCroskey, 26, of Beckley, passed away Monday, April 5, 2010, following injuries sustained at Performance Coal’s Upper Big Branch Mine at Montcoal.
Born October 29, 1983, in Beckley, he is the son of Debra Lynn McCroskey.
Nicolas loved to hunt and fish, water sports, and loved his boat; he also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. He was a 2001 graduate of Wyoming East High School and a 2006 graduate of Bluefield State College.
Nicolas was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Howard and Lola Coomes and Edith and Delbert Worley.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving mother, Debbie Lynn McCroskey of Penhook, Va.; grandparents, Julie and Darrell Worley who he called “Nan and Dad” of Penhook, Va.; an aunt, Shelby King of Dunbar, W.Va., and a cousin, Hillary King of Dunbar; and a host of friends.
Services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley with the Rev. Larry Lafferty officiating. Nicolas will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, W.Va.
Ryan Cox, Aaron Cook, Brian Morgan, Braxton Huffman, Matt Adams, Jeremy Hedinger, Spud Milam, Kenny Coomes, Jody Coomes, and Dusty Williams will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.
