The Putnam Coal Mines are located in Elmwood, West Virginia, Mason County. The mines started their operation in 1968 and worked until 1971. The mines were owned by Union Carbide. My dad, my brother, Bert Hess and Bert Alfred Hess worked at this mine. Following is a list of the workers that I know of from Union Carbide.
