Within The Bowels Of Hell

Deep within the bowels of hell
lies the odorless air of death
some call it carbon monoxide
while others, the devil's breath

but even hell hath treasure
black diamonds of coal
dark, cherished gems
to tempt the human soul

so many brave men enter
the depths of this dark, cold place
knowing the risk is worth taking
to better the human race

even though it's a job
and some get paid quite well
how many of us have the courage
to march into the depths of hell

as we pay homage to heroes
we need to stand in applause
for all the fallen miners
who have truly died for a cause

Deep within the bowels of hell
lies the odorless air of death
some call it carbon monoxide
while others, the devil's breath.....
