NOV 15, 1947 in Fayette County Tombstone inscription: " WV PFC 350 Inf WWII Gone but not forgotten" Buried at the Hall Cemetery Big Chimney, Kanawha Co, WV He worked at the Harewood coal mines as a Machine man. My grandfather was killed in the Semet Solvay Mines at Harewood WV in 1947 by slatefall. he was in WWII and at his funeral they did a 21 gun salute. growing up I heard horrible stories about my grandfather but I think that if I knew him I would think different because a man who served his country and worked hard in a coal mines would have a kind soul. May all the men who worked in the coal mines be forever remembered in our hearts.
